Cameron Diaz and Jessica Alba are Best Dressed at Met Gala 2012 in a sea of faux-pas

THERE were so many fashion casualties.
Carey Mulligan stole the show at the New York bash, stepping out in a two-tone gold and silver Prada dress that matched her engagement and wedding rings.

Jessica wowed us in a grecian-inspired gold lame dress, while Scarlet showed off her sizzling curves in a nude, off-the-shoulder gown encrusted with gold gems and finished off with a netted skirt.
Cameron Diaz kept it simple in a backless champagne number, which was encrusted in shimmering sequins that attracted us like the bunch of magpies we are.
Lea Michele was at it again, showing off her enviable figure in a midnight-blue dress of sequins, complete with plunging neckline and thigh-high split up the middle.

Sparkles seemed to be hot on the list, with Gisele Bundchen stepping out in a black fishtail gown covered in shimmers, while Rosie Huntington-Whiteley pulled a 'come here to me' look in her black and bronze dress.
Feathers were on the must-have list but only Kate Bosworth pulled them off, showing off her lithe pins in a halterneck black number.

Meanwhile, Marion Cotillard was breathtakingly beauty in her black sparkling gown which gave way to a purple sheer skirting, giving us all a peek at her lovely pins.

Candice Swanepoel found her way on to our hot list just for turning up and showing off some of her bod, but we're sure her blue dress was lovely too.
